Topline Floors offer high quality finishes in Polished Concrete having so much experience over such a long time. Polished Concrete transforms concrete into a modern, aesthetic and practical floor surface that will last years and require little maintenance. There are many different finishes available according to customers’ requirements and how the floor is expected to perform.
Topline Floors can also incorporate the REFLECTIVE FLOOR® USA system into our Polished Concrete flooring projects. Topline Floors undertakes projects in Large Warehouse Facilities, Commercial Premises, Shopping Malls, Offices, and Domestic areas. The Reflective Floor System offers the greatest depth of polish and the longest life polished concrete floors.
The aggregate can be completely exposed, or lightly exposed, or not exposed at all. Sometimes “random” exposure is chosen if the concrete is undulating. This is where the high points of the concrete are ground off leaving less or sometimes no aggregate exposure at the low points.
The level of polish can be High, Medium, Low Sheen, or Matt. The life of the Polished Concrete is also determined by the level of “Mechanical” polish. The higher the “Mechanical” Polish the longer the floor will last. A higher mechanical polish does not necessarily mean the floor will be more slippery.
This is a process where the concrete surface can be tinted with a colour to match various décor requirements. There are many colours available from Black, Greys, Beiges, Reds, Blues, Emeralds, Yellow, Green, and even a White is available. Colour Tints are translucent and not a solid colour such as an epoxy, or paint colour. The Polished Concrete can be tinted with fully exposed aggregate, or whatever depth of exposure is required. After the Colour Tint process the surface is usually mechanically polished further and then sealed with a penetrative stain resistant sealer. Concrete can also be ordered with an integral colour added, direct from the concrete batching plant.
Polished Concrete floors are often coated with various clear coatings, this may be because they are in a food eating area or a non-slip grit is required for safety, or budget constraints require a cheaper finish. Coatings are topical and can offer a quick and shiny finish, however any coating will scratch easily compared to a mechanical polish. The mechanical polish is done by using diamond polishing discs under the grinding / polishing machine. A coating is sometimes referred to as a “Liquid” polish and needs to be re-applied from time to time. The shorter lifetime of a “Liquid” polish cannot be compared to the long lifetime of a mechanical polish.
